POEM TITLED: CONNECT

POEM SERIES #12.

Through each line, I become more invested, more intrigued.

My mind captivated with the beauty of verses

And their boundless depth.

With my pen, I connect with others without speech

And express my innermost imagination.

Whether “Finding comfort in my beloved night sky”

Or “Guiding Dear Little Maina on her journey of self-discovery”

Each page shows a glimpse of my mind.

My anthology being the closest to my heart.

Through the art of ink to paper.

I hope to carry others to the universe of their imagination

And find myself lost in their words as well as others

POEM TITLED: THROUGH A LOOKING GLASS

POEM SERIES #11

In her mind she saw herself, all dull and unattractive.

There she went feeling gloomy and inexpressive.

Her friends she thought, all robust and cheery.

Dear little Maina found no need to be merry.

She lived in a cute little bungalow up the hill side.

With her family that could not light up her inside.

Kept to herself imprisoned by falsehood and trepidation.

Dear little Maina wallowed in the cocoon of her imagination.

She was never part of the fun side of happenings.

Always the subject of mean tricks and jestings.

Until the day she stumbled upon an old dusty mirror.

Dear little Maina would at last alter her believe in error.

Gazing through the dusty mirror came a beam of illumination.

Inspiration rising as she continued to devour without reservation.

An encounter that would reflect the beauty within so freely.

Dear little Maina could see the vision she desired so passionately.

Through a looking glass sparked her journey of self discovery.

A new reality that propelled her to stand tall in bravery.

Invoking strength that shatters the barriers of the old.

Dear little Maina ready to step out and take on her world.

Who Am I?

1.

Have you ever asked yourself that question? A lot of people are mislead by others because they do not know who they are; they let others define them. The world of today is not a bed of roses, there are a lot of thorns and troubles that will come your way and if you do not know who you are, you will fall.

2.

Don’t surround yourself with those people who don’t have positive ambitions for themselves and you, instead with people who you can influence positively and vice-versa. Be yourself. People will always respect you more if you are original. Challenge and love yourself, but above all, FEAR GOD.

POEM TITLED: The Beauty of Nature

POEM SERIES #10

It started with nothing but emptiness.

The earth in its raw state of barrenness.

Then came forth light from the night darkness.

Bringing out the day in its full brightness.

2.

That was the beginning of the beauty about to unfold.

In a world so rich and beautiful to behold.

The skies in the heavens towers with wonders of old.

A home prepared for the birds to fly with joy untold.

3.

The tall trees of the forest stand so proudly.

Drawing strength from the sun that glows so brightly.

And the rains that quench thirst so soothingly.

Yielding fruits that support life so generously.

4.

How the deep oceans, spread out from west to east.

And the waves sway to the rhythm of the eastern mist.

The whales gliding with great pride as the water beast.

And prey running to escape from being the day’s feast.

5.

The wildlife not left out in this display of courage and all.

From the tiny insects to the roaring lions, the best of all.

The smallest, largest, weakest and strongest of all.

In a life game of survival of the fittest of all.

6.

Green leaves, blue skies and apples in its redness.

A world of colours expressed in loveliness.

Life has a voice that is echoes with boldness.

A rich voice that is heard in its sweetness.

7.

This is my home to dwell in safety.

A place of peace and tranquility.

So nurturing it is taken as a duty.

To preserve this nature of beauty.

In #Congo Over 6 million dead. Yet our governments are silent. It was at least 6 million dead in 2007, they stopped counting the death toll. Rebel groups funded and armed by neighboring Rwanda and Uganda would massacre whole villages. Women and children raped in front of their families and village. Children forced at gun point to execute their own parents. Western governments and corporations support Rwanda and Uganda in order to loot Congo's resources. The UN is absolutely complicit and ain't doing shit. Congo for decades at the expense of innocent human beings, most of them children. Congo’s neighbors who are US and British allies, namely Rwanda and Uganda, have operated in the Congo in total impunity while causing the deaths of over 6 million Congolese. This is why #CongoIsBleeding. As a Panafrican brother from the Congo, I would like to thank my Nigerian brothers and sisters for remembering our #genocide as they fight to #EndSARS #CongoIsBleeding but I know with our entire continent in solidarity, we can end this silent Holocaust. To learn more about the situation in the Congo, visit congojustice.org and join us this Congo Week to end the killings in the Congo so that Congolese can regain control of their land and resources, exploit them for the benefit of their people and transform Africa. Over 6 million lives lost is enough! We must end the genocide NOW! Please share this video with 3 people, and ask them to share with 3 more and so on. Thank you. 🖤💎🌍 Courtesy: CONGOJUSTICE.COM / DP PATRIOT We Thank them for this Short and informative presentation . . . . #Congoweek #congolese #kinshasa #congolais #africa #nigeria #african #love #travel #southafrica #military #army #usa #gun #soldier #happy #life #blacklivesmatter #police #racism #blm #repost #hope #inspiration #god #spiritual

POEM TITLED: KEEP GOING

POEM SERIES #9

When failures come – keep going.
When you feel like giving up – keep going.
When people mock your idea – keep going.
When challenges you face – keep going.
When mistakes are made, learn – but keep going.
Because perseverance just keeps going!

POEM TITLED: TROUBLE BUT NOT DEFEAT

POEM SERIES #8

Underneath our feet we find
Those branches and thorns a grind.
Why is so life so mean
It is as if no other scene.

Through life, you know, you will find. We sometimes just close our minds.
Those solutions we so desperately want
All appear like yesterday’s many tyrants.

But, do not trouble or be dismayed.
There are good days on the way.
When you look beyond the norm
You’ll find you need not.

Be bold, be happy, be confident.
You are not meant to lament.
These things so sure today
Can vanish without delay.

So when trouble comes your way
Do not accept defeat and ruin your day.
Move forward with a focused view
Stay positive in all you do.

POEM TITLED: YOU WILL NEVER SEE ME FALL

POEM SERIES #7

You may see me struggle,
but you won’t see me fall.
Regardless if I’m weak or not,
I’m going to stand tall.
Everyone says life is easy,
but truly living it is not.
Times get hard,
people struggle
and constantly get put on the spot.
I’m going to wear the biggest smile,
even though I want to cry.
I’m going to fight to live,
even though I’m destined to die.
And even though it’s hard
and I may struggle through it all,
you may see me struggle…
but you will NEVER see me fall.

BY: Joyce Alcantara

This poem is one of my personal favourites. It gets me through a set back or failure. Just know that whatever happens, you need to constantly strive to get to the top.

I hope my writing inspires you too’
