BRIEF TALKS SERIES #1

Well, we all know that every profession has a certain retirement age for each employee. When it comes to politics, this rule becomes invalid.

Is age really a guarantee of maturity? Even though years of experience makes a person much more efficient, is it fair enough to occupy a seat based on those following points?

That popular saying ‘’Age is just a number,’’ is just something that people say when they are experiencing ageism or something related when they get older.

Politicians at the age of 70 are not willing to work as effectively because their physical and mental conditions are not as good. People say ‘’you are as old as you think you are,’’ that age is just a state of mind. I say it’s more about the state of your body. How can a president vacate office for over a hundred days due to issues associated with his/her age?

I’m not saying only 20 year olds should hold political office but we need to get fresh perspectives in government decisions. The world is getting smaller and younger, people are more receptive in dealing with people of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientation, etc. What they lack in world knowledge, they are willing to think outside the box to find solutions to moving the world forward. At some point, these young people are going to hold these positions and we need to give them the opportunity to have a major say in the world we are leaving them

Age imprints more wrinkles on one’s mentality and health than it does on the face.
