Tick tock…tick tock…
Life is counting down on your internal clock.
Memories that feel as if they occurred yesterday
turn to flashes of moments that seem to fade away.
People you once knew
walk by without a clue.
The times you once shared
exist as if you were never there.
Years fly…friends die…
and you never know when you’ll say your last goodbye.
Oh, how I wish I could turn back time,
spend it with loved ones and cherish what once was mine.
Or to go back even more,
being a kid in a candy store.
How I miss the way I used to feel
on Christmas day when Santa was real.
But back to reality…back to today,
family is scarce and memories continue to fade away.
Tick tock…tick tock…
How I wish I could control this clock.

BRIEF TALKS SERIES #1

Well, we all know that every profession has a certain retirement age for each employee. When it comes to politics, this rule becomes invalid.
Is age really a guarantee of maturity? Even though years of experience makes a person much more efficient, is it fair enough to occupy a seat based on those following points?
That popular saying ‘’Age is just a number,’’ is just something that people say when they are experiencing ageism or something related when they get older.
Politicians at the age of 70 are not willing to work as effectively because their physical and mental conditions are not as good. People say ‘’you are as old as you think you are,’’ that age is just a state of mind. I say it’s more about the state of your body. How can a president vacate office for over a hundred days due to issues associated with his/her age?
I’m not saying only 20 year olds should hold political office but we need to get fresh perspectives in government decisions. The world is getting smaller and younger, people are more receptive in dealing with people of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientation, etc. What they lack in world knowledge, they are willing to think outside the box to find solutions to moving the world forward. At some point, these young people are going to hold these positions and we need to give them the opportunity to have a major say in the world we are leaving them
Age imprints more wrinkles on one’s mentality and health than it does on the face.

This was a debate I wrote a while back. As I said, the world is getting smaller and younger and we need fresh perspectives in government decisions. Feel free to comment and reblog.
I hope my writing inspires you too 🙂
POEM SERIES #4.

1
To learn while still a child
What life is meant to be
To know it goes beyond myself
Is so much more than me
2
To overcome the tragedies
To survive the hardest times
To face those moments filled with pain
And still manage to be kind
3
To fight for those who can’t themselves
To always share my light
With those who wander in the dark
To love with all my might
4
To still stand up with courage
Though standing on my own
To still get up and face each day
Even when I feel alone
5
To try and understand the ones
That no one cares to know
And make them feel some value
When the world has let them go
6
To be an anchor, strong and true
That person, loyal to the end
To be a constant source of hope
To my family and my friends
7
To live a life of decency
To share my heart and soul
To always say I’m sorry
When I’ve harmed both friend and foe
8
To be proud of whom I’ve tried to be
And this life I choose to live
To make the most of everyday
By giving all I’m able to give
9
To me that’s what life should be
To me that’s what is for
To take what God has given me And make it so much more

SHORT STORIES #1.

On the great fields of Magi, there lived different species of birds. Every specie had their distinctive characteristic but the geese in particular were very mischievous. Among all the geese though, only one was different and that was Rio.
Rio was by no means like the rest of the flock. He was upright, hardworking, and loved by the Birdaroo Community. Although he seemed perfect, Rio had one problem; he couldn’t fly.
One day, the Eagle called for a meeting with the Community. And he said, ‘’Alas! It is time for the yearly migration to Brazil for the winter. Please pack all you need and store the rest neatly in your homes. We leave in two days.’’
Everyone was excited. The Birdaroo Migration was the most adventurous time of the year. It was period for the birds bond, have fun, and improve their flight skills. So, as everyone ran to their homes to prepare, Rio climbed to the top of an oak tree and began to sob. ‘’If only I could fly,’’ he said, ‘’Then I could go to Brazil.’’
Then, three geese flew over the oak tree and one of them said, ‘’Ha-ha! Look, its Rio the cry baby!’’ And another said, ’’Too bad he never follows the flock on Migration trips’’, and then they chorused, ‘’ Cause he can’t fly’’ And with that, they flew away leaving poor Rio feeling worse than ever before.
The winter was slowing creeping in. The Birdaroo flocks had already left Magi and the land was deserted. But Rio was tucked away in his little home drinking a hot cup of tea and reading the last Daily Bird newspaper. Soon, he decided to go for a stroll. After a few hours of walking, he accidentally wandered off into human territory.
Suddenly, a terrible blizzard kicked in so he had no choice but to take refuge in a dirty alleyway. Not too long after, a girl named Térfa had spotted him unconscious while on her way home and after much contemplation, she picked him up with her knitted scarf and continued on her way.
When he woke up, Rio got the fright of his life. The last thing he remembered before fainting was lying in the alley. But now, he was deep in a human’s territory. Afraid, he ran forward but hit himself against the bars of the cage he hadn’t noticed before. Rio tried his best to break free but he was extremely weak.
Térfa had come in after the commotion and saw the scene. ’Stop’, she said, ‘You’re only going to hurt yourself even more. Wait, let me help you.’ Térfa managed to carry a still struggling Rio to the fireplace and gently massaged his wings. ‘Hmm’, Rio thought, ‘This might not be so bad after all’. And with that he slept off.
When he awoke the next morning in Térfa’s arms, he snuggled into her shirt as a sign of greeting. Seeming to understand the gesture, Térfa said, ‘’Good morning to you darling. Here, have some nuts.’ After eating, she played with him even more. Soon enough, Rio started getting attached to his newfound friend. They did everything together. Played together, ate together, slept together, and even went out together.
A few days later, they were out in her backyard playing when Rio looked up to see some geese flying in the air. Noting his sudden change in behavior, Térfa looked up to see his species. ’Why don’t you join your friends. I’m sure they’ll be missing you.’
When Rio didn’t look up, she got the hint. ‘What’s wrong?’ Then Rio tried a flapping motion to no avail to show he wasn’t able to fly. ’Well, don’t worry. I’m going to make sure you fly’. And that’s exactly what she did.
Every morning Térfa would train Rio through obstacle courses, wing exercises and other techniques. A few weeks had passed, when one afternoon during training, he was dropped from a tree and miraculously, he flew. Térfa jumped for joy and Rio himself was very much elated.
Months had passed and soon enough, it was time to return to Birdaroo. So he flapped goodbye to Térfa and headed home. As he flew, he thought, ’Now that I can fly, I could finally go with the flock to Brazil, and he smiled very happily to himself.
And surely, when the migration trip came the following year, little Rio flew for the first time to Brazil.

POEM SERIES #3
1
Behind bars we stood
I and my lover, with the other hoods
Don’t be mistaken, we weren’t thieves
Someone deceived us and we believed
2
The entire country was in jeopardy
I was forced to hide in my study
Day after day and night after night
Waiting hopefully for a better sight
3
Until the day the guards took us to the fields
Ten soldiers all lined up with guns and shields
This was it, the end of it all
I, filled with trepidation and hope so small
4
I was first to be shoot and my lover, runner-up
My lover begging endlessly for my sake while I sobbed
Alas! It was time to face the gun
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to run
5
As I stood blindfolded, my arms open wide
I heard my lover struggling to break free near my side
My life sliding on thin ice about to crack
Each second like long years as I waited for the impact
6
Finally, the trigger was pulled and I waited for the brunt
There was a loud scream
One second, two, three, four had passed
I was confused was I dead at last?
7
I removed the blindfolds which left a sore
My lover was not with the guards anymore
I looked down and to my greatest surprise
There my lover beneath me with closed eyes

POEM SERIES #2

1
I look up in awe
Staring at the deep of the horizon
Tens of diamonds in the sky
Ever so cryptic I see my mind
A vacuum but ambivalence
Waiting to release all emotions
2
I release in illustrations
Stick figures would I draw
With my aesthetic mind
And a capricious look
Looking up to my very own silver screen
Watching anecdotes of the previous day
3
Ever so small
Ever so bright
Ever so high
Is this lovely diamond of the sky
Some telling a story of their own
When connected dot to dot
4
Ever so infinite
Ever so empty
Ever so dark
Is this vacuum of a night sky
Anecdotes drawn and yet undrawn
In the boundless night sky
5
How I love the bodies of the dark
In which I find peace from the insanity of the day
When I illustrate with my aesthetic mind
Into this silver screen of a night sky
6
Until lethargy consumes me
And I flip a new page
For the night of the next day

POEM SERIES #1.
1
A sound sleep after crossing the line.
Perseverance, the secret, a key.
On this long voyage
As old as time.
2
An ongoing course with both origin and end.
This river, where the waves
Are forever in tranquility or disarray.
Its sweet waters
Like a comforting embrace.
And bitter flows
A fatal contagion.
3
A quest, race, test.
For survival, for rest.
And I too have been in this long race
Since I was first brought forth
Under the crimson morn.
4
Alone on my raft.
My only comrade, a golden compass.
The masses have different vessels from one another
And get capsized offentimes.
5
Some fade away or wander by the river bank.
This voyagers set out but never cross the line.
But I would never pause till I reach my rest.
Till the end is nigh, I wouldn’t stop
6
When the sun was apex
I made myself another vessel
A fine boat of many colours.
7
Again, I continued to seek nature’s rest
In the eve of the day
When time seemed endless likewise this quest.
My mind, heavy with qualm.
8
As I approach bitter waters
I smile; despite the raging waves
I could make out the river’s end
Just a few moments away
9
I see rest on the other side
A hoary mist; the deepest of night
His wings of sleep spread abroad
And arms ajar
For a sweet embrace
10
It’s just a few moments away
I can’t wait
Till night falls
Till the end
